Folios 305-306: Charles Cobb, London. The Ship's company of HMS Lion requested that he would travel to London to present their grievances.
Folios 307-308: enclosure with folios 305-306. Captain Charles Cobb, HMS Lion. The ship's delegates asked to see him and request that he travel to London with the Pay Books and their grievances, he agreed he would do that but asked if they would leave the problem to him. They replied that this was not acceptable and they were determined in their cause, not just for them but for all their fellow Seamen. They assured him that neither he nor any Officers would be ill treated.
Folios 309-310: enclosure with folios 305-306. Committee from HMS Lion to Captain Charles Cobb, 18th June 1797. Assurances that if they knew the names of the original perpetrators of this unhappy business they would inform the Captain. The problem is that at the beginning the ship was in a state of panic and no-one knew who was saying what. If they can be forgiven they will never let this situation occur again.
Folios 311-312: enclosure with folios 305-306. Committee from HMS Lion, 18th June 1797 to Captain Charles Cobb. Explanation that the delay in providing answers to points made is because they were unable to agree. Captain John Knight, HMS Montague and a Lieutenant from HMS Standard have received their instructions to treat him as a gentleman.
Folios 313-314: enclosure with folios 305-306. Committee from HMS Lion, 5th June 1797 to Captain Charles Cobb. They thank him for his confidence but are determined never to give up their cause until their grievances are redressed.
Folio 315: enclosure with folios 305-306. Copy of statement to swear - In presence of Almighty God I swear to be true to my King and my Country abjuring all oaths that have been drawn from me in the hour of my delusion, so help me God at my greatest need.
Folio 316:enclosure with folios 305-306. Captain Charles Cobb, the Nore. List of 12 named ships flying the Blue flag and Union and 11 named ships flying the Red flag and Union at the Nore.
Folio 317: enclosure with folios 305-306. Committee, HMS Lion to Mr. Sabine, 10th June 1797. In the midst of confusion they wish to attend to the dictates of reason and ask him to act as referral.
Folios 318-319: enclosure with folios 305-306. Ship's company of HMS Lion to Captain Charles Cobb, 11th June 1797. They wish to return to duty as long as several wishes are granted. 1, Indemnification from the King of all offences. 2, their wages are paid. 3, that ship's companies be kept together, except the Officers that are offensive to them. 4, Any men taken up on shore will have the same indulgence as those on board. 5, Marines should have encouragement. 6, Any men who deserted be found and pardoned.
Folio 320: enclosure with folios 305-306. Printed words of a song dated May 11th 1797. First line - I will not sing the Seaman's shame.
Folio 321: enclosure with folios 305-306. Printed address to British Seamen, dated 8th May 1797. Appeal to prevent the mutiny and encouragement for Seamen to return to duty.
