Folios 357-358: Cuthbert Collingwood, HMS Excellent, Spithead. Acknowledge orders to take under his command HMS Flora and HMS Blonde - and taking under his protection the ships bound to the Ports in Spain and Portugal and also the ships belonging to the East India Company as far as their course lays with his - to see them in safety - and then to proceed to join Admiral William Hotham at St Fiorenso [Saint-Florent] in the Island of Corsica. As the signals he has while attached to the fleet under the command of Admiral Earl Richard Howe (1st Earl Howe) were to be returned when he ordered on other Service. Request to be supplied with Signal Books in use by the Fleet in the Mediterranean and to be put in possession of the Private Signals used by Admiral William Hotham.
