Folios 133-134: William Cayley, HMS Invincible, Yarmouth Roads. Acknowledges the letter of 2 September 1800, Lieutenant Granville has been told his request cannot be granted. Encloses [no longer present] the despatches for Captain Thomas Graves of HMS Cumberland, He has sent Lord Spencer's private letter to Captain Graves in HMS Martin, which will sail on the tide. Also encloses a letter from Lieutenant John Lake of HM Armed Brig Lady Ann, which has just reached him, and in view of its contents he has stopped HMS Jalouse from departing with the Baltic Convoy until he receives further orders.
Folios 135-136: enclosed with folios 133-134. Letter from Lieutenant John Lake of HM Armed Brig Lady Ann, Yarmouth Roads, to Captain William Cayley of HMS Invincible, dated September [1800]. Under orders from Vice Admiral Archibald Dickson, he went to Hull and escorted a convoy of vessels to the River Elbe and then went cruising between The Fly and Smith's Knoll. On 3 September 1800, off the Texel he sighted two warships which did not respond when he hoisted the private signal, thinks they belonged to the enemy.
