Folio 359: enclosure with folio 358. The response to folio 358. This is unsigned and quotes the law which states that a Captain taking a ransom instead of taking the vessel as a prize, can be, subject to the decision of the Court of Admiralty, asked to pay a forfeit of up to £100. The exception, to be taken into account, is if the Captain was in a situation of extreme necessity.
