Description

Folio 423: George Burdon, Regulating Officer, Appledore, Devon. Acknowledges receipt of letter and encloses his own, the Lieutenants' Press Warrants and a list of the Gangs.

Folio 424: enclosure with folio 423. Nominal list of men in Press Gangs being paid off, between 8 and 15 October 1801, at Barnstaple Rendezvous compiled by Thomas Miles, Lieutenant, and George Burdon, Captain. 8 men listed with details of age, rating, date of entry and any changes: James Joce, Richard Tozer, Thomas Boyne, William Burzacott, John Griffiths, William Patterson, Henry Avery and John Tassell.

Folio 425: enclosure with folio 423. Instruction, dated 1 January 1801, from Thomas Grant, Justice to Borough Town and Manor of Bideford, Devon to all Constables and Officers of the Peace to aid and assist in executing the warrants.

Folio 425: enclosure with folio 423. Instruction, dated 1 January 1801, from William Walters and Thomas Saltron, all Constables and Officers of the Peace of the County of Devon to aid and assist in executing the warrants.

Folio 426: enclosure with folio 423. Impress Warrant, dated 20 December 1800, of William Davey, Lieutenant.

Folio 427-428: enclosure with folio 423. Impress Warrant, dated 20 December 1800, of Thomas Miles, Lieutenant, with Instructions on the reverse, dated 3 January 1801, from Nicholas Shephard, Mayor and [illegible], to all Constables and other Peace Officers in Barnstaple and the County of Deveon to aid and assist in executing the Warrants.
