Folio 12: John Boyle. Poole Rendezvous. James Sharp, Master of the brig Hope of Sunderland and John Ellis, Master of the brig Queen of Barmouth, lately captured by the French, each with a parole permitting them to come to England to obtain their exchanges. They complained that their 2 Mates, also on parole, have been impressed by Lieutenant Williams of HMS Tickler at Brownsea. He sent to Williams to bring the two men to be regulated, but he refused saying he had written to the Admiralty about them. He asks for directions. The Masters came in a French sloop with a flag of truce from Cherbourg, together with a Mr. Green and family released from a French prison, hired to bring them to Portsmouth to report to the French agents.
