Folios 170-171: Henry Bazely, HMS Harpy, the Downs. His Agent received, and paid, a bill for expenses to de with the detention of a Swedish ship, the Hercules, which he sent into port by order of Admiral Peyton [Joseph Peyton] on 12 November 1798. Asks for these expenses to be repaid.
Folios 171-172: enclosure in folios 170-171. Letter dated 25 November 1798 by Captain Luke Horne, HMS Fox, Plymouth, to Captain Henry Bazely, HMS Harpy. Report of his voyage with Swedish ship, mentions Calais cliffs, South Foreland and Portsmouth. He reported to Admiral Sir Richard King who stated he can have nothing to do with the ship. He has written to Admiral Peyton [Joseph Peyton]
Folio 172-173: enclosure in folios 170-171. Orders dated 10 November 1798 by Admiral Sir Joseph Peyton, Commander of ships in the Downs to Captain Henry Bazely, HMS Harpy. Orders concerning his actions if they come across a convoy of Swedish merchant ships. If they capture any they are to send them to a port.
Folio 173: enclosure in folios 170-171, Letter dated 18 November 1798 by Captain Henry Bazely, HMS Harpy, West Capel,, to Joseph Peyton, Admiral of the Blue, the Downs. Having fallen in with the Swedish ship Hercules, from Finland but last from Montserrat bound for Leghorn [Livorno] and laden with plank, tar and pitch, he detained her. Has sent her into the Downs with Coomander Horn [Luke Horn], Commander of HMS Fox, for his disposal.
