Folio 192: R R Bowyer [Richard Runwa Bowyer] [HMS Cameleon, Falmouth]. Having received orders from Sir John Jervis, Commander in Chief in the Mediterranean he proceeded to England with express dispatches to the Admiralty and landed at Falmouth. Request the payment of the usual sum, having travelled with 4 horses.
Folio 193: enclosure in folio 192. Letter dated 2 December 1796 by Sir John Jervis, HMS Victory, Rosier [Rosia] Bay, Gibraltar to R R Bowyer [Richard Runwa Bowyer], HMS Cameleon. By command of George Purvis, you are to proceed to England with dispatches. If you fall in with Vice Admiral Vandeput [George Vandeput] cruisers you are to deliver the letters addressed to Vice Admiral, the Honourable Mr Walpole, to the commander thereof, else to the Admiralty.

By command of George Purvis, you are to proceed off the Coast of Portugal to the Meridian of Cape St. Vincent or meeting with any of the squadron of Vice Admiral Vandeput [George Vandeput]you are to open the sealed orders. Note:- You are to keep a weight constantly affixed to the bag to sink it in case of immediate danger of capture.
