1. Folio 19. Copy. John Thompson to [unknown]. Lord Lonsdale assured Clerks of the Peace in Appleby [Westmorland] that General Wade would reach Carlisle [Cumberland] on 20 November 1745; rebels [Jacobites] should be recalled from Penrith [Cumberland]. Mr Armitage refused to give rebels hay and provisions, after which 16 rebels went to Lowder Hall [Lowther Hall, Westmorland]. Concern about rebels at Kendal [Westmorland] since Jonathan Holland passed through. Dated at Kendal, 21 November 1745.
2. Folio 20. Copy. Thompson to William Gillison, merchant in Lancaster [Lancashire]. [Content same as Folio 19]. Dated at Kendal, 21 November 1745.
3. Folio 21. Copy. Thompson to Gillison. News of 120 rebel horse proceeding from Lowder Hall [Lowther Hall] towards Chap [?Shap, Westmorland]. Some rebels at Thrimby [Westmorland] asking for directions to Kendal. Dated at Kendal, 21 November 1745.
