Description

Folios 161-162: John Ferrier, HMS Albion, Sheerness. Acknowledge receipt of your letter acquainting me I am to be tried by a Court Martial upon the charges exhibited against me by the Boatswain of HMS Fortunee and desiring me to send a list of evidences in defence of those & these charges. I beg to name the following and have to request you furnish me with a copy of the circumstances stated to their Lordships by the late Clerk of HMS Fortunee, in case I might require any other evidences; also that you will cause HMS Fortunee's Muster Book for August 1802 and September 1802 to be sent to this Port. [List] Evidences called for by Captain John Ferrier:- Captain [William] Richardson of HMS Autumn, The Boatswain of HMS Autumn in September 1802, Mr Evans - Purser of HMS Fortunee, Lieutenant [John] Palmer late of HMS Fortunee, Mr Anicote late Clerk of HMS Fortunee, Mr Pettman of HMS Albion at 3 Mariners High Street Wapping/ HMS Albion Rendezvous, Lieutenant Nichols or Nicholson of HMS Magicienne & Lieutenant [Edward] Rodney of HMS Magicienne.

Folios 163-164: enclosures with folios 161-162. Leonard Taylor. To Admiralty. Dated Sunday 3 o'clock PM. Reply to your letter requesting the Evidences he intends to call against Captain John Ferrier late of HMS Fortunee. They are as follows:- Lieutenant John Palmer now on HMS Venerable at Portsmouth, Samuel Bookinshaw - Master residing at Minegessey [Mevagissey] Cornwall, L G Ammet - Captain's Clerk - Angle Inn & Lieutenant [John] Palmer in London.
