The Bridgwater Railway Company was incorporated under the Bridgwater Railway Company Act of 18th August 1882.
At a special meeting held on 30th June 1921, shareholders agreed to the purchase of the company by London & South Western Railway Company. Under the London & South Western Railway (Southern Group) Preliminary Absorption Scheme of 23rd December 1922, Bridgwater Railway Company was transferred to and absorbed by London & South Western Railway Company at midnight on 31st December 1922.
