The Bridgend Railway Company was incorporated under the Bridgend Railway Company Act of 19th June 1828. The line was abandoned in 1854.

In 1855, by the Llynvi Valley Railway Act of 15th June, the Bridgend Railway Company was dissolved and purchased by the Llynvi Valley Railway Company.
