Description

Files of documents of commitment, render and surrender concerning the commital of debtors and bankrupts to the Fleet Prison. Each file (the later ones are in bundles) relates to an individual prisoner. The documents included the writ of habeas corpus from the justice of the bench to the sheriff who detained the debtor, the sheriff's confirmation of arrest, and details of the debtor's discharge of bail by admission to the prison.
