3 letters ([Philips] and 2 from John Newman, magistrate) on behalf of David Rickets convicted at Somerset Quarter Sessions Wells in January 1831 for stealing a work box. Gaoler's report: character bad, before convicted of felony. Grounds for clemency: prisoner has provided names of notorious burglars in Yeovil area and local magistrate has confirmed the value and validity of this information. Initial sentence: life transportation. Annotated: answered 24 January 1831, pardon prepared 10 February 1831. NP 20
