2 individual petitions (prisoner and Susan Pedley, the prisoner's wife) and 1 collective petition (14 people) on behalf of William Pedley, mineral water manufacturer, committed on 17 January 1831 as a rogue and vagabond. There are signed affidavits from William Pedley, John Barnsley Crouch, Humphrey Cohen, Samuel Nathan, Louise Catling, George Nickolas, Mary Wells and Thomas Cook . There is also a drawing submitted by the prisoner showing the layout of where the alleged offence took place outside gates of St James Church Piccadilly. Grounds for clemency: convicted on false evidence of exposing himself to Ann Jacobs and Mary Ann Midmer, many of witnesses against him of bad character, incident engineered by Richard Jacobs the brother, a known criminal, to obtain money, ineptitude of counsel who did not call witnesses for his defence, many good character references. Initial sentence: 3 months' imprisonment in House of Correction for Middlesex, Cold Bath Fields. Annotated: nil. NP 14
