Description

Medical and surgical journal of the Sibella transport for 26 January to 2 March 1853 by John Stewart, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in taking convicts and troops to Gibraltar.

[Note: ADM 101/253, 1A-1F are produced as a single document: order as ADM 101/253].

Folio 6: Thomas Dodsworth, aged 50, convict; case number 1; disease or hurt, dyspepsia. Put on sick list, 13 February 1853 at sea. Discharged 16 February 1853.

Folio 7: Thomas Smith, aged 21, 55th Regiment; case number 1; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Put on sick list, 26 February 1853 at sea. Discharged 2 March 1853 to hospital.

Folio 7: Evan Jones, aged 31, convict; case number 2; disease or hurt, chronic diarrhoea. Put on sick list, 22 February 1853 at sea. Discharged 26 February 1853. Placed again on sick list 1 March 1853, discharged 2 March 1853.
