Medical and surgical journal of His Majesty's ship Kite for 28 April 1803 to 28 April 1804 by Alexander Dewar, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in the Channel Service.

Folio 1: Blank.
Folio 2: Thomas Castleleak, aged 25, seaman; disease or hurt, violent rigors, increased headache and vomiting. Put on sick list, 30 April 1803. Discharged 9 May 1803.
Folio 2: John Smedmore, aged 17, seaman; disease or hurt, by a fall fractured the radius about 4 inches above the wrist of the left hand. Put on sick list, 31 May 1803, at sea. Discharged 17 June 1803 to duty.
Folio 3: Alexander Black, aged 24, master's mate; disease or hurt, night sweats and small white ulcers on the right tonsil and several smaller ones on the palate. Put on sick list, 7 August 1803, Stonehouse Pool. Discharged 7 August 1803 to hospital.
Folio 3: John Anson, aged 24, seaman; disease or hurt, mania. Put on sick list, 3 September 1803, at sea. Discharged 3 September 1803 to St Heliers headquarters.
Folios 3-4: William Auchie, aged 14, boy; disease or hurt, complains of dull pain in his forehead and heaviness of the eyes, of nausea, bad taste in the mouth, and inclination to vomit, great debility and averseness to motion. Put on sick list, 13 September 1803. Discharged 19 September 1803 to St Heliers headquarters.
Folio 4: James Rougett, aged 22, seaman; disease or hurt, while employed clearing the boat of water, he fell from the gangway into the boat and fractured the left thigh about 5 inches above the knee. Put on sick list, 19 September 1803, St Aubins Bay, Jersey. Discharged 19 April 1804 to sickquarters.
Folios 4-5: George Davis, aged 30, marine; disease or hurt, had the greater part of the third joint of the ring finger of the right hand taken off by the fall of a cask, the remaining part of the bone was shattered to the joint and on the fore and back parts deprived of its covering. Put on sick list, 28 September 1803. Discharged 8 November 1803.
Folio 5: Alex Baird, aged 35, seaman; disease or hurt, passing from the hulk into the brig fell overboard and before he was taken up had remained about a quarter of an hour in the water. Put on sick list, 8 February 1804, Hamoaze. Discharged 12 February 1804 to duty.
Folio 5: William Coombs, aged 32, seaman; disease or hurt, the timca conjunctiva of the right eye is much inflamed and towards the edge of the cornea swelled. Put on sick list, 5 February 1804, Hamoaze. Discharged 19 February 1804 to duty.
Folios 5-6: John Selby, aged 23, seaman; disease or hurt, on the face there are a number of small circumscribed inflamed [postules?] slightly elevated above the surface. There are many on other parts of the body although not as numerous as on the face. Put on sick list, 21 February 1804, Hamoaze. Discharged 22 February 1804 to hospital.
Folios 6-7: John Nimble, aged 25, seaman [negroe?]; disease or hurt, complains of a very frequent severe dry cough attended with pain across the chest and head. Put on sick list, 11 April 1804, at sea. Discharged [date not stated].
