Medical journal of HMS Albion, from 1 January to 13 February 1824 by James E Anderson, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in Portsmouth Harbour.

Folio 1: Title page of journal of the ship of the line HMS Albion by James E Anderson, for 1 January to 13 February 1824.
Folios 2-4: John Bedford, aged 40, gunner's mate, taken ill at Portsmouth Harbour; sick or hurt, pain in the right hypochondrium extending towards the epigastric region and top of the shoulder increased by deep inspirations; put on sick list 8 January 1824, discharged 27 January 1824 to duty.
Folio 4: Surgeon's remarks, no other case of any consequence occurred on board during the short period between closing my last accounts and being superseded, the very few slight cases have been noticed briefly in the monthly return. Signed James E Anderson, Surgeon.
