Renate Stephenie SIMPSON nee KUCZYNSKI and Arthur Cecil SIMPSON: German naturalized British, and British. The youngest of the Kuczynski family, Renate arrived in the UK as a refugee from Berlin in 1939. In 1945 she was a full-time employee of the National Union of Students and joined the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). She acquired British citizenship through marriage to the co-holder of this file, Arthur SIMPSON, also a communist but a secret party member as a result of his employment, without classified access, as a senior scientific civil servant in Fisheries
