Grigorii Yakovlevitch SOKOLNIKOFF, alias BRILLIANT: Russian. Commander of the Red Army on the Turkestan front in 1920, by 1922 SOKOLNIKOFF was Commissar for Finance and in 1929 was appointed Ambassador in London. Galina SEREBRYAKOVA, who accompanied him as his wife was said not in fact to be so but to be a GPU officer tasked to ensure that he returned to Moscow when required. In 1933 he was tried in the USSR but appears to have survived
