Jessie Emma GARMAN, aliases Paddy AYRISS, HARDY, Jessie MILES: British. Secretary to Albert Inkpin, the Communist Party Secretary, in 1925, GARMAN went first to Moscow in 1927, working as an English stenographer, then to China. Between 1937 and 1944 she worked at the Soviet Embassy in London during which time she was Ambassador Maisky's secretary. Throughout this period, and later, she was a convinced Communist. Various connections of hers in the 1930s (including Glading) suggest she was linked to Soviet intelligence
