Transcript of letters patent concerning property in Shropshire, Flintshire and Devon.
By indenture under the great seal of the Court of Augmentations, 31 Jan 36 Hen VIII [1545], Henry VIII leased to Richard Mytton [inter alia], the rectory of Spytty Dolgunwell [Yspytty Ifan], Denbighshire, and the chapel of Penmaghno [Penmachno], Caernarvonshire, (late of the commandery of Halston [Halston Preceptory], Salop), and the manor of Yspytty Ifan, etc.; the manor of Ewanas [Gwanas in Dolgellau], Merion, and all lands belonging thereto, (late of the same commandery); the manor of Llanwithin [Llanwddyn], Montgomeryshire, and lands belonging thereto, (late of the same commandery); a close of land called Croft y Spytty, etc., in Oswestry, Shropshire, a moiety of tithes of Whittington, [Shropshire], and the rectory of Ellesmere, Shropshire and Flintshire, (all late of the same commandery); tithes of the vill of Bergill Issa [Upper Berghill in Whittington] and Bergill Ucha [Lower Berghill in Whittington], Shropshire, and the rectory of Kenerley [Kinnerley, Shropshire and Montgomeryshire], in the diocese of St. Asaph, for 21 years, at £77 6s 8d a year.
By letters patent under the great seal of the Court of Augmentations 15 Nov 6 Edw VI [1552], Edward VI leased to Arthur Champernon, kt, the rectory of Ugborough, Devonshire, etc., in reversion, from the death of Adam Traverse, then incumbent, for 21 years, at £8 a year; also the reversion of the premises in the letters patent above, and an annual rent of £66 15s 2d, parcel of an annual rent of ill 6s 8d.
Now, for £2,426 4s 0l4d paid at the receipt of the Exchequer, grant to George Lee, otherwise Leigh, merchant staple, otherwise George Lee, of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and Thomas Boyer, of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, draper, the reversion of the above premises [with extended descriptions], all granges, etc., in Yspytty Ifan and Penmachno, Gwanas, Llanwddyn, Oswestry, Upper Burgell and Lower Burgell, Whittington, Ellesmere, and Houghton [Haughton], Tetchill, Upper Ridge, Lower Ridge, Newington [recte New Marton], Crickcott, Hardwicke [Hardwick], Elston [Elson], Grenhill [Greenhill], Newnis [Newnes], Dudleston, Eastwicke [Eastwick], Northwood, Trench, Hampton [Welshampton], Lynnyell [Lyneal], Fromtketon Anglicana [Frankton English], Cowmer [Colemere], Cookeshiet [Cockshutt], Crowlesmere [Crosemere], Kenwicke [Kenwick], Stockett, Leigh [Lee], Newton, Otleys [Oteley], Stockk [Stocks], and Coptibynny [Coptiviney, all in Ellesmere], Shropshire, Pensey [Penley], Flint, [in Ellesmere, Shropshire], and Ugborough, Devon, etc.
