Frank Stephen STRINGER, alias Lepage: Irish. In 1941 STRINGER was recruited by German Intelligence while a prisoner of war, with a view to his being sent to Britain and/or Ireland as an agent. For this purpose he was trained as a radio operator and saboteur. Later this plan was abandoned and he was enlisted in the Waffen SS. After the war, he was court-martialled and sentenced to a term of imprisonment. The file contains (at serial 51b) a first hand account of German attempts to win over support in an Irish POW camp
