Sylvia PANKHURST, alias Sylvia Estelle PANKHURST: British. Sylvia PANKHURST was, like her mother Emmeline, active in the Suffragette movement. She was an early Communist and, in the late 1930s and 40s was engaged in anti-war and anti-fascist activity. As founder and editor of 'New Times and Ethiopia News' (1936 onwards) she was very actively involved in promoting the Abyssinian cause and denouncing Italy's imperial activity. In 1944 she emigrated to Ethiopia. She remained violently anti-British until her death in 1960. This file mainly covers the later stage of her career
