This series consists of evidence heard during the inquiry into the fire at King's Cross underground station on 18 November 1987. The evidence includes photographs, plans and the station's log book as well as technical reports by expert witnesses.
A final report of the inquiry is included.
Also included are copies of papers of the Interdepartmental Inquiry into the fire.
A three dimensional model of the station was made for the Inquiry and presented by the Department of Transport to London Underground Ltd under section 2(6) of the Public Records Act 1958. The model is now kept at their White City Training Centre. Researchers wishing to inspect the model should write to 'The Training Centre Manager, White City Training Centre, London Underground Ltd, Wood Lane, London W12 7DT..
Some of the pieces in this series are photocopies of items from files loaned to the Treasury Solicitors for the Inquiry by London Underground and other organizations. Any inquiries about these items should be made to the originating departments

The public inquiry into the fire at King's Cross Underground Station on 18 November 1987 in which 31 people lost their lives, was established by the Department of Transport and began work on 2 December 1987, under the chairmanship of Mr Desmond Fennell QC.
The inquiry it lasted for 91 days. The report of its findings was published on 10 November 1988.
