1914-1928
This series consists of correspondence and papers relating to sea transport of military forces and supplies, food and raw materials for industry, Atlantic, Gibraltar and Russian convoys, shipping losses and tonnage requirements, shipbuilding and other matters relating to wartime British and allied control of merchant shipping. Later files in the series relate mainly to residual functions of the Ministry of Shipping which passed to the Shipping Liquidation Branch of the Mercantile Marine Department of the Board of Trade in 1921.
An incomplete draft report on the control of shipping, 1914 to 1918, is in MT 25/86-87.
