J S Wooley, Commissioner of the Navy at Malta from Henry Salt, HM Consul General in Egypt at Cairo. He has, with assistance from Mr. Lee, Consul in Alexandria, shipped on board the Naval transport, Dispatch, the remainder of his antiquities intended for the British Museum. Are sending an annotated catalogue of the collection marked to show those articles forwarded by the Naval transport, Dispatch, and ask for this to be forwarded to the British Museum Trustees. Asks that the Admiralty obtain a receipt from the Keeper of Antiquities, to be sent to my Agent. There are also articles belonging to Mr. Bankes, the Earl of Belmore and Mr. Belzoni. Unfortunately with the plague raging in Alexandria at present, there may have been some confusion at time of loading but this should be able to be resolved by reference to my list and with assistance from my former secretary, Mr. Beckey, who is well acquainted with all the items.
