Copy report from E Holl. Do not understand from what data Vice Admiral Sir Alexander Cochrane has estimated it would cost £200,000 to erect a Naval Hospital at Bermuda. Quote cost of the Barbados hospital, constructed to the Vice Admiral's plan and also his own estimates for the plan of the hospital. Do not agree the similarity between the planned hospital at Bermuda and the one at Haslar. Every precaution had been taken in the plan for the circulation of air to combat excessive heat. There would be 5 less patients in the wards according to my plan than at the Barbados hospital erected in conformity with the Vice admiral's plan. Ask whether it would be more suitable to purchase the building currently used as a hospital at Bermuda rather than building a new hospital. Is enclosing the plans of the Barbados hospital as well as that ordered to be erected at Bermuda.
Enclosure.
