Description (What the record is about)
-
Copy letter from Peter Puget, Naval Commissioner's Office, Madras, to Sir Samuel Hood, Vice Admiral of the Blue, Commander in Chief, East Indies. Dispatch No.40. Samuel Holman has arrived on the Minden and has taken up his duties as Storekeeper here. His predecessor, William Taylor, has a warrant to act as agent to the Naval Hospital, but I have retained his services to assist in the management of the Naval stores transferred to Trincomalee. Suggest John Johnson, 1st clerk to the Acting Naval Storekeeper at Prince of Wales Island, be charged per tempore with the duties of agent at the hospital at the salary he currently has at Penang, while William Taylor should be permitted pay and emoluments of his appointment from the Sick and Hurt Board, with any augmentation thought proper. Recommend there be a European conversant with issuing Naval Stores attached to the Depot at Trincomalee, and if agreed, recommend the appointment of my Coxswain to that situation.
Enclosure.
