William Wesley Pole. Lieutenant General Barclay suggested an improvement in the pantaloons, trousers and accoutrements for the Royal Marines. We asked Messrs Courtney and Sons, the contractors for Marine necessaries for a quotation to make them of the same quality of cloth but dyed blue instead of grey. Costs are given, and we asked Lieutenant General Barclay to inspect the garments sent for approval by Messrs Courtney. Are sending a copy of his certificate and justification for using a fast dye.
