Description (What the record is about)

Extract from a letter from the contractors for copper sheets stating that the market price of old copper is 14d. per pound in exchange for new, which has a market price of 17d. per pound, and that the price they receive from the Yards is between 16 and 16½d. If they were to pay the asking price of 15d. per pound they would be unable to clear a profit, by the time the costs of transport and re-processing were deducted. Point out that the Navy is already receiving new copper sheet at a more advantageous price than private companies.
