Evan Nepean. In consequence of the Admiralty order granting superannuation to Richard Prestwood, late Chief Clerk for Bills and Accounts and his retirement, we have filled the vacancy with George Hartwell, late 2nd Clerk and William Peyton, late 3rd Clerk will succeed Mr. Hartwell. We would like to re-instate Maurice Nelson in the place he formerly held next to Mr. Peyton. He resigned in 1794 to be appointed Assistant Commissary to the Army under Lord Moira. His services in that situation being shortly concluded, we are glad to engage him. Ask for an authority to dispense with the regular succession and restore Mr. Nelson in his original situation. As Assistant Commissary he is entitled to half pay and as the public will now save that expense we ask if he may be excused from the usual gratuity to be taken from all new Clerks entered in this office.
