- Folios 111-112. Letter from William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, headed 'Sale produce'. He refers them to their two previous letters, number 7862/A/1847, regarding the sale of two parish cottages at Water Eaton. He offers an explanation as to why he withheld the sum of £20 1s to cover the expenditure for the emigration of two labourers to Canada which occurred around the same time. He believed at the time that sanction had been obtained from the Commission, but he cannot now find any order, so he concludes that there never was one. Annotated that the Commission is prepared to confirm the application to £16 but cannot confirm the excess that has been paid. Paper Number: 14238/A/1847.
