Description

Petition of Thomas Rogers, Seaman of Plymouth, late belonging to the Vigilant. Has served for 12 years in the York, Captains Laws and Williams, Weymouth and Launceston, Captain Colmady, Vigilant, Captains Douglass, Lisle and Rozier. Has a will made to him by Henry Drake, Able Seaman on the Chester, in the East Indies, who was executed for desertion, so he cannot receive the wages due to Drake at the time of his decease. Admiral Boscawen granted a reprieve for Henry Drake because he was of the same family as Francis Drake but he was executed early in the morning by order of Captain Spry before the reprieve was sent off. He is a widower with small children and asks for his case to be considered
