William Marsden. Henry Peter Williams has asked for his period of servitude on the Mars to be allowed in calculating his suitability for commissioned service in the Navy. Certificate of his Naval service is attached to his letter and a certificate from the Lieutenant, appointed by order of Rear Admiral Sir John Duckworth to command the Mars, that he served as Midshipman from November 1803 to April 1804. As the Mars was not registered on the list of the Navy, Williams' time of service cannot be allowed. Believe that his case is a hard one as Williams thought his service would help meet his length of service requirement. If their Lordships feel the same, we will give an order so he can be considered for promotion.
