The Woolwich Officers to the Board. At the planning stage of the erection of limekilns, the danger to the masthouses and the hemp did not occur to them. The new kilns are 47 yards from the masthouses, which at present hold hemp to the value of £170,000, which figure will rise shortly to £200,000. They stress the danger of the prevailing winds, which blow from the west in nine months of the year and hope that the danger presented by the construction of the kilns may be minimized by the appointment of watchmen..
