William Marsden. The agent of John Brenton has petitioned for him to be paid for the time that he was acting Lieutenant of the Caesar. The records show that he was entered on the ship in February 1801 as a Midshipman. In July 1801 he became Master's Mate and then acting Lieutenant. In June 1802 he was discharged by order of Sir James Saumarez. As there is a regular vacancy for a Lieutenant for the time Mr. Brenton acted from July 1801 to June 1802, we believe he should be paid as such and ask for an order.
