William Marsden. Have instructed the Sheerness Officers to provide the vessels mentioned in their order, with iron stanchions for bulwarks, to enlarge their magazines and to supply and fit such woodwork as is needed to screen the carronades and to fit them as defense ships. The Ark, Princess Royal and Monarch transports have been examined by the Officers, who report the special arrangements that will need to be made to carry out the required work. As there are only limited numbers of men to refit ships, the Sheerness Officers ask whether they should continue with work on the Immortalite, the Vulture and Basilisk, or start on the transports now.
