William Marsden. When apprentices have served 3 ½ years and been found capable of taking on a man's responsibilities, one third of their earnings, if employed by Task or job, according to their rate of pay, should be paid to them. The rest is to be paid to their instructors or Quartermen. Ask whether this sets aside their order of November 1802, which says that 2 1/3rds of the pay should go to the supervisors and the remaining third to the parents or guardians to pay for food, clothing and tools. If the order is set aside, wonder how the parents or guardians can give the support.
