Copy letter stating that no action can be taken on the claim of Mr Birt to head money for the capture of the French privateer La Mouche by HMS Diamond until a certificate giving the number of men on board at the beginning of the engagement is provided on the oaths of 3 or more of the chief officers. The affidavits of Captain Edward Griffiths and Lieutenants Jonathan Codd and Samuel Jeafferson say that the people escaped on shore during the night, and that the French commander stated that his Role d'Equipage had been left at Teneriffe..
