Philip Stephens. Mr. Collins, one of the principal contractors for timber informs us that John Simmons has been pressed from our protection from the Providence sloop, loading timber for the service at Newhaven, by Lieutenant Bradby and sent on the Elizabeth and Mary tender at Shoreham, from a second protection given by us since the Admiralty notice forbidding the pressing of men regularly protected. Now the sloops in his employ are laid up and will not engage again until this man is released and he will be unable to deliver timber. Ask for an order for his discharge as this contractor has a large quantity of timber ready to ship for the yards.
