Commissioner Le Cras to the Admiralty. On being appointed Commissioner of the Navy to reside in America, he procured 2 Clerks to assist in carrying on the business of his office in the same manner as other Commissioners serving abroad and gave their names to be entered in the proper office here. The first went to New York in the Leviathan storeship with his baggage and the second remained on board the Europe until the Artificers for America were discharged from the ship, when he was ordered to attend at this office. Ask for them to be paid their salaries from the time of entering their names in this office and continued whilst assisting the Board's business. Has ordered the 1st Clerk to return to England at the first opportunity and ask for the same allowance for lodgings as usual for Extra Commissioners of the Navy from the time he was ordered to sit on the Board.
