Philip Stephens. We proposed directions should be given for Carpenters' crews belonging to HM ships at Spithead and in Plymouth Sound, to be employed in assisting Caulkers from the yards, on work to ships lying there and for them to be paid allowances in accordance with the General Printed Instructions. These allowances differ according to where they are employed, so propose they should be allowed 1s. per day on board their own ships and 18d. per day on other ships and the Clerks of the Cheque should be directed accordingly.
