Folio 706. Letter from J and W Rees Mogg [John Rees Mogg and William Rees Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board regarding their letter dated 1 October 1853 concerning the appointment of Henry Stevens as schoolmaster at the workhouse. The guardians' letter dated 4 October 1853 should give a sufficient explanation. Charles Harris left his situation as schoolmaster on the 10 September 1853 and Stevens commenced his duties on 1 October 1853 on the understanding that the appointment was on a two month trial. Annotated: request a copy of the minute relating to Henry Steven's appointment. Paper Number: 34519/1853 36117/1853. Poor Law Union Number 374. Counties: Somerset.
