Folio 388. Letter from William Ashton, Clerk pro tem to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, forwarding a copy of a resolution passed by the guardians at their meeting on 28 June. This resolution, proposed by Mr Barber and seconded by Mr Harwood, removed the union's accounts from the bank of S Smith & Co to the Nottinghamshire Banking Company, and appointed the latter as treasurers to the union. Mr Frearson and Mr Truman would deal with the transfer of funds in person, and Mr Ashton would write to the two banks and to any parishes in arrears. Annotated: a fresh appointment will be necessary with security. Enquire why the change was made. Paper Number: 9141/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
