- Folio 44. Letter from Mr J Manwaring, District Auditor, Todmorden, to the Poor Law Commission, replying to a letter sent to him previously, requesting details regarding an order issued to instruct him 'to prohibit the Constable of Bingley from relieving destitute persons whom he may find in the night time in a state of starvation'. He is also requested to explain if he has acted on his responsibility in issuing such an order. He confirms that he has never received any instructions from the Commissione to issue an order, nor has he issued anything to the constable himself. Paper Number: 2448/B/1847. Poor Law Union Number 571. Counties: Yorkshire West Riding.
