Folios 35-36. Letter from Mr J Manwaring, Eagle Hall, Ripon, [Yorkshire North Riding], District Auditor, to the Poor Law Commission. Mr Busfield Ferrand has queried why Mr Manwaring has disallowed certain sums paid to the constable at Bingley, as he has the authority to relieve 'destitute persons whom he may find in the night time in a state of starvation'. Manwaring writes that he was not aware that the constable had this authority and to inform the Commissioners that he did not issue an 'order' on this matter. Annotated: acknowledgement dated 30 January 1847 sent from the Commission to Manwaring. Paper Number: 2005/B/1847. Poor Law Union Number 571. Counties: Yorkshire West Riding.
