Folios 340-341. Letter from Thomas N Firmin, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southampton Incorporation, to the Poor Law Board, forwarding a copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of the guardians held on 20 February 1854. The guardians resolved to sanction payment of a sum not exceeding £5 to provide an outfit for Johanna Carroll, aged 18, of St Mary's parish, who has obtained an assisted passage with the purpose of emigrating to Australia. She has a passage on the ship 'Ontario' sailing from Southampton and requires an outfit of clothing and bedding and utensils for the voyage. The resolution is signed by William Grant and James Charles Cox, guardians for the parish of St Mary. Annotated: Immigration Order dated 24 February sent 2 March 1854. Paper Number: 6693/1854. Poor Law Union Number 407. Counties: Hampshire.
