Folios 1-18: Copy of sick list.

Folios 18-19: case no 1, John Robinson, aged 23, Seaman; taken ill at Vourla Bay; sick or hurt, bronchitis; put on sick list 18 March 1840, sent 9 April 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folio 19: case no 2, Robert Hoath, aged 21, Seaman; taken ill at Vourla Bay; sick or hurt, phthisis; put on sick list 18 March 1840, sent 9 April 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 20-21: case no 3, Stephen Stokes, aged 33, Marine; taken ill at Vourla Bay; sick or hurt, hepatitis; put on sick list 18 March 1840, sent 9 April 1840 to Malta Hospital, he was afterwards invalided from the Hospital.

Folios 21-22: case no 4, George Greatwood, aged 22, Marine; taken ill at Vourla Bay; sick or hurt, angina pectoris; put on sick list 18 March 1840, sent 9 April 1840 to Malta Hospital, he was afterwards invalided from the Hospital.

Folio 22: case no 5, John Sparrow, aged 21, Drummer; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, phlogosis fistula in ano; put on sick list 9 April 1840, sent 9 April 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 22-23: case no 6, John Fletcher, aged 23, Seaman; taken ill at Vourla Bay; sick or hurt, fractura ossium cruris, fracture of both bones of the leg close to the ankle joint; put on sick list 18 March 1840, discharged 6 June 1840 to duty.

Folios 23-25: case no 7, James Henderson, aged 43, Seaman; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, synochus; put on sick list 28 March 1840, discharged 27 June 1840 to duty.

Folio 25: case no 8, Mr Alexander West, aged 18, Midshipman; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, fractura ossium cruris sinistri, while wrestling in the cock pit with one of his companions, fell with the leg under him, fractured of both bones of the left leg; put on sick list 2 April 1840, discharged 9 April 1840 to duty, Surgeon’s noted as the ship was ordered on active service to the Bay of Naples, this patient was sent to Hospital for recovery.

Folios 25-26: case no 9, Thomas Ferney, aged 36, Seaman; taken ill at Vourla Bay; sick or hurt, dysuria stricture of urethra; put on sick list 22 March 1840, sent 24 April 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 26-28: case no 10, James Green, aged 29, Seaman; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, hepatitis chronica; put on sick list 6 April 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 28-29: case no 11, Mr E Robertson, aged 23, Assistant Surgeon; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, vulnus, while on shore at Smyrna a month ago was bitten on the back part of the leg by a dog; put on sick list 22 April 1840, sent 24 April 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 29-30: case no 12, John Nicholls, aged 36, Seaman; taken ill at Naples; sick or hurt, hepatitis; put on sick list 14 May 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 31-32: case no 13, Edward Williamson, aged 25, Marine; taken ill at Naples; sick or hurt, erysipelatous inflammation of the right arm; put on sick list 15 May 1840, discharged 16 July 1840 to duty.

Folios 32-34: case no 14, Patrick Byrne, aged 21, Seaman; taken ill at Naples; sick or hurt, catarrh phthisis; put on sick list 4 June 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folio 34: case no 15, John Barrett, aged 23, Seaman; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, ulcus, received an injury two months ago by which the cutucle over tibia of each leg was abraded and the soft parts contused; put on sick list 31 July 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 34-36: case no 16, Samuel Lambert, aged 35, Marine; taken ill at Naples; sick or hurt, palpitatio angina pectoris; put on sick list 8 June 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folio 36: case no 17, William Smith, aged 55, Seaman; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, rheumatism; put on sick list 13 July 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folio 36: case no 18, Thomas Jarrett, aged 45, Seaman; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, rheumatism; put on sick list 31 July 1840, sent 31 July 1840 to Malta Hospital.

Folios 36-38: case no 19, Thomas Kirley, aged 24, Marine; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, bronchitis; put on sick list 14 August 1840, discharged 24 September 1840 to duty.

Folios 38-41: case no 20, John Cotter, aged 24, Seaman; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, hemoptysis; put on sick list 11 August 1840, sent 8 November 1840 to the Castor for passage to Malta Hospital.

Folios 41-42: case no 21, Thomas Evans, aged 25, Marine; taken ill at Naples; sick or hurt, fractura fibula, fell from the gangway port of Benbow to the deck of a water tank and injured the left leg and wrist; put on sick list 16 July 1840, discharged 30 August 1840 to duty.

Folios 42-45: case no 22, Charles Lacey, aged 51, Seaman; taken ill at Malta; sick or hurt, erysipelas, struck his knee on a ladder which produced an abrasion of cuticle, his left knee joint considerably inflamed; put on sick list 1 August 1840, discharged 17 October 1840 to duty.

Folios 45-46: case no 23, William Shepherd, aged 20, Seaman; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, morbus coxarius, had been lame for a week or two from disease of the left hip joint; put on sick list 6 September 1840, sent 8 November 1840 to the Castor for passage to Malta Hospital.

Folios 47-50: case no 24, James Broom, aged 32, Marine; taken ill off the Coast of Syria; sick or hurt, gunshot wound, received two gunshot wounds at the attack on Fort Djebail [D'jebel or Gebail] on the 12 September, and he was in the Cyclops during the time a musket ball entered at the lower part of abdomen above the symphysis pubis; put on sick list 16 September 1840, sent 8 November 1840 to the Castor for passage to Malta Hospital.

Folios 50-51: case no 25, William McFarlane, aged 23, Marine; taken ill off the Coast of Syria; sick or hurt, gunshot wound, received two gunshot wounds at the attacked on Fort Djebail [D'jebel or Gebail] on the 12 September, a musket ball grazed his side and lodged in the right fore arm; put on sick list 16 September 1840, sent 8 November 1840 to the Cyclops for passage to Malta Hospital.

Folio 51: case no 26, William Cox, aged 21, Marine; taken ill off the Coast of Syria; sick or hurt, gunshot wound, amputation of arm; put on sick list 16 September 1840, invalided 8 November 1840.

Folio 52: case no 27, Jeffrey Wilson, aged 28, Seaman; taken ill off Tortosa; sick or hurt, gunshot wound, amputation of forearm in consequence of the attack on Tortora; put on sick list 25 September 1840, invalided 8 November 1840.

Folio 53: case no 28, Alexander Mockett, aged 21, Marine; taken ill off Tortosa; sick or hurt, gunshot wound, amputation of thumb and fore finger in consequence of the attack on Tortora; put on sick list 25 September 1840, invalided 8 November 1840.

Folios 53-56: case no 29, William Minnell, aged 21, Marine; taken ill at Tortosa; sick or hurt, gunshot wound, fractured of lower jaw, was taken on board Carysfort after the affair of Tortosa on 25 September, two gunshot wound one very severe in the mouth; put on sick list 27 September 1840, sent 18 January 1841 to the Cyclops for passage to Malta Hospital.
