Letter from Henry Edwards Paine, Clerk to Guardians of the Rye Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, informing the Commission that the guardians had renewed their agreement with Mrs Wheeler, Workhouse Matron of Rye, at the rate of £20 per annum on a hiring period of three months at the time commencing from 25 December 1838 with a month's notice to each party, the notice to expire at the end of the current three months, requesting the Commission's approval to the renewed appointment. Annotated: Mr Tufnell [E C Tufnell, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], 28 December 1838. Approved [E C Tufnell, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], 29 December 1838. Sanction, 31 December 1838.
